video presentations to compare translation tools

Translators Training is a site that offers video presentations showing how different translation environment tools (TEnTs) go through their unique translation processes to achieve an identical translation goal.

Over 15 of the leading translation tools are reviewed. For the first presentation series, we asked the software vendors this question: "Using your tools, what's the best way to translate this Word document?" In the video presentations, you'll see how each of those 13 most popular TEnTs translated that Word document and added terms to the teminology database (if they have one).

By seeing each tool do the same thing, you are able to compare oranges to oranges. With a common goal and a level playing field, you can finally judge the translation tools for yourself.

Over time we have added more content and will continue to add content on a regular basis.

translators and people who use computer aided translation tools

This first set of presentations is really not aimed at those translators who are already experts with their chosen software tool. These presentations could be seen as an introduction to each tool's functionality. We recommend that you watch some preview presentations to get a good idea of the level of expertise of the intended audience. Jost Zetzsche's introduction is also a helpful resource for more information.

Corporations who are interested may take a free-trial licence. This licence gives you complete and unlimited access to our video presentations for a short time.

Educational establishments with language students should use this site as a "required reading". Contact us for a free-trial licence.

free content on translation tools

There are many free videos available on the site. If you want access to our Premium Content, however, there is a once-a-year payment. You'll see from the They Said What?! section that many, many translators think we're well worth it.

For Corporate and Educational buyers, we offer a free, limited-duration trial account which gives you full access to all our content so that you can evaluate how well our content will meet your requirements. Again, just contact us for more details. We do ask for credentials which prove who you are. Sorry, but we've learnt from experience that we need to ask for this...<sigh>

Jost Zetzsche and Intrawelt created the presentations and own this website

The website is a collaboration between Jost Zetzsche of International Writers' Group and Intrawelt, a leading language services and eLearning solutions company based in Italy.

The presentation parameters were sent to the software vendors themselves who then produced the screen-capture and images. Jost wrote the script and Intrawelt's eLearning experts created the final presentations.
